Joining Bel Canto Chorus means joining a legacy of Milwaukee choral music that stretches back nearly a century. 

Bel Canto ​Chorus is known throughout the choral music world as a preeminent vocal arts institution, and has been inspiring audiences since 1931. With a commitment to performing choral-orchestral masterworks side by side with beloved contemporary works, the varied repertoire at Bel Canto Chorus is sure to have something to appeal to every singer!

FAQs

  • Bel Canto Chorus is an auditioned chorus. Auditions are typically held four times per year, typically on a Saturday at North Shore Congregational Church, a week or two after rehearsals have begun for the corresponding concert. We invite you to attend the first rehearsal or two of a concert series (Try It You'll Like It rehearsals, or TIYLI) to make sure Bel Canto is right for you before auditioning.

  • Currently the annual chorus fee for 2025-26 is $175.  This fee is used to purchase and rent music (members keep non-rental music), and pay for rehearsal-related expenses, including retreats. 
    Scholarships are available on a limited basis and are confidential. 

  • We usually rehearse on Wednesdays from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center, 325 W Walnut, Milwaukee, WI 53212. Each concert rehearsal series also includes a weekend retreat consisting of one rehearsal on Friday night and two rehearsals on Saturday. Concert weeks include extra rehearsals.

  • Members purchase their own concert attire.
