Bernadette Prochaska, FSPA, PhD, a Franciscan Sister from La Crosse, Wisconsin, has been teaching literature at Marquette University for 32 years. In the summers, since 1992, she teaches English language in Prague, presently sponsored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in Washington, D.C. Until 1996, she was a Fellow for the Foundation for a Civil Society and taught English in Prague and Slovakia. Besides being an English teacher, Bernadette is a musician. Some years ago her students in Prague gave her Dvořák's Stabat Mater by the Prague Symphony Orchestra, and she began research, visiting Dvořák's home and the Church where he composed the glorious music in 1876-1877.

Bel Canto Regional Artists Competition
Bel Canto Chorus is pleased to announce the winner of its 23rd Annual Regional Artists Competition. Ten finalists competed on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Soprano Laura Strickling of Hickory Hills, Illinois has been named the winner of this year’s competition. Strickling won a $1,000 prize and a solo engagement with the Bel Canto Chorus for its 2012-2013 season. Read more HERE
