Dona Nobis Pacem
by Ralph Vaughan Williams
Bel Canto Chorus Livestream Concert Event
Sunday, June 13
7:00pm Central Time *
Join Richard Hynson, Music Director, and Sarah Schwab, Board Member, as they watch this virtual concert live on Facebook and YouTube.
Vaughan Williams wrote Dona Nobis Pacem at the request of the Huddersfield Choral Society to compose a work to mark its centennial in 1937. At the time, there was a sense of inevitability of another major world war brewing. The work was an eloquent plea for peace from a veteran who had personally experienced the horrors of World War I.
Hear and watch this beautiful work brought to life by the voices of Bel Canto Chorus accompanied by the Baptist College of Ministry Concert Chamber Strings and Michelle Hynson on piano. The chorus is also joined by two wonderful soloists: Mary Faith Van Gelderen Williams, soprano, and Jonathan Laabs, baritone.
Offered free to the public thanks to the generosity of our presenting sponsor:
Sarah Margaret Hegarty Foundation, Inc.
