Bel Canto is approximately 100 voices strong. The Chorus draws its singers from communities throughout southeastern Wisconsin and northeastern Illinois and performs in a 4-concert subscription series.
In addition to its season performances, Bel Canto is committed to serving choral music through outreach to, education of, and collaboration with students, educators, and other performing arts groups in the community, as well as through the advocacy of new music and emerging artists.
Bel Canto has also taken the art of choral music and the name of Milwaukee abroad, performing at the Festival dei Due Monde in Spoleto, Italy, by invitation of its founder, GianCarlo Menotti, and in great venues throughout France, England, Spain, the Czech Republic, Canada and most recently Ireland in 2006.
The Bel Canto Chorus ranks in the top 10% of choral organizations in the country in terms of budget size, longevity, and repertoire.
