About Bel Canto Chorus
Bel Canto Chorus is Milwaukee’s premier independent choral organization. Founded in 1931, Bel Canto Chorus is committed to enriching the lives of its audiences and members through the outstanding presentation of fine choral music.
The group has been led for more than 20 years by Music Director Richard Hynson, who is one of the nation's finest choral and orchestral conductors. As such, Bel Canto consistently performs at an unparalleled level of excellence.
With more than 100 members, the chorus draws its singers from communities throughout southeastern Wisconsin and northeastern Illinois. Rehearsals are held regularly at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Bel Canto Chorus ranks in the top 10% of choral organizations in the country in terms of budget size, longevity, and repertoire. Characterized by a heartfelt belief in the value of Bel Canto Chorus's mission and vision; and supported by devoted singers and audiences, talented artistic and administrative staff, and dedicated Board members; the group's passion for sharing the thrill of live, choral music has remained steadfast throughout its long, proud history.
